The season of Advent begins this Sunday, November 28th, and we will be getting it off to a great start by having +Norman with us at All Saints to preside and preach at our 11.00 mass. It will be lovely to see him again, and there will be refreshments after the service, so do come along and then stay a chat with him after mass.
Advent is a time for preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas. It is also a season of getting ready and waiting for the coming of Christ’s kingdom. Maintaining the season as a time for penitence and spiritual “getting ready” can be a challenge amid all the other more secular preparations which need to be made. With this in mind, the Society have published a booklet, which you can find on the website, providing devotional resources which you can use during this season.
As we draw up our Parish profile, along with the other Society Parishes, please use this Advent as a time to pray for all who are involved in the process of recruiting and selecting a new Priest in Charge to come and serve our parishes. We pray that a good and faithful priest may be found, who will take us forward on the next chapter of our journey as worshipping communities and help us to respond to the Deanery Strategy to grow in depth, impact and number.
We have a few dates for your diary in December, which I would like to bring to your attention:
Thursday 2nd 11.00 – 3.00 Advent Fayre in church. There will be lots of stalls and refreshments available. Do come, bring your friends, and spend lots of money!
Wednesday 8th 11.00 Cell of OLW and Extended Holy Communion for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This will be an opportunity to pray through the many prayer requests which are left by visitors on the Our Lady of Walsingham altar.
Sunday 12th December 11.00 Mass at 11.00. This will be the third Sunday in Advent, when rose vestments will be worn, marking the mid-way point in Advent.
Sunday 19th December 6pm Service of lessons and carols. Please encourage friends and family to come to this, if possible, in appropriate costumes, as we tell the stary of the Incarnation through familiar readings and well-known carols. There will be refreshments afterwards.

Please note There will be no mass at either of our churches on Sunday Dec 26th.
